KEITH DAVID TRIEVEL born July 13th, 1954 in Royersford, where he currently resides.
"An instructor at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art once told me if we can draw the human figure properly, we can draw anything. I never forgot that. No matter how many other paintings I do of natural subjects, local landscapes or abstracts, I always come back to the male form. There is an emotional connection to it that I seldom experience with other work. It just feels different while I am making it. My paintings are created using a combination of acrylic on canvas, bonded tissue, and ink drawing, which I developed while in art school and is now my signature style. Some have said it is reminiscent of fresco, mosaic or stained glass. I prefer the male figure because it's what I know and because the male musculature works better with my technique. My subjects often appear to be emerging from darkness into light... perhaps a metaphor for my life and artistic journey. "
This collection of work will be on display at Ravensgate for the month of July, with an opening reception on Friday, July 7th from 6-8.
